Notting Hill Carnival helps celebrate 90 years of the British Council

On 5 December 1934, the British Council was established to build lasting connections through education, arts and culture, bringing the best of UK to the world. Last night (3 December), bands and performers from Notting Hill Carnival helped celebrate their 90th anniversary.

The celebrations took place at The Roundhouse in Camden, London. Long standing Carnival performers Ebony Steelband, Triniboi Joocie and Rock It With Rho produced spectacular performance alongside Damon Albarn and the London Gospel Community Choir (LGCG), while Foreign Secretary David Lammy made a public address.

These performances marked the British Councils 90 years of building connections, understanding and trust between the UK and countries worldwide. The British Council was founded by the Foreign Office to champion the UK’s world-leading cultural and educational institutions to help boost the UK’s influence and impact in over 100 countries.
